What Does God Want From You

What Does God Want From You

5This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all[b] sin.

8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.  1 John 1

What does God really want from any of us.  The truth is God knows who and what we are, we are humans.   That may sound a bit obvious and over simplified but it is in fact what God wants us to be.   So, what does it mean to be human, first it means we arenít and never will be perfect, only one human has ever been able to do so, Jesus.  That was because God wanted a messenger here on Earth to convey and show other humans the two things that we as humans should seek to achieve and that is first, recognize that there is a God.  A God which is living, but not the way we define living and second care for others more than yourself.  A third component and a part of both of these, is the desire God has for each of us to try each day to move ourselves spiritually in a positive direction.  Again, not to perfection but just a little closer than the day, week or year before.  God also recognizes that we wonít always succeed with this, and totally understands but none-the-less it is Godís ultimate vision.

So, how do we go about accomplishing each of these tasks?  They seem straight forward and even on the surface fairly easy, but in reality they are not.  Why do I say this?  First, humans need to accept one of two concepts, and both are intangible to humans in a very tangible and physical world.  Which one you do first will bring you to accept the other, humans need to either know and trust there is a God and that God lives not in the physical sense as we would like to define but in the scheme of the Universe very much in the physical sense.  The second concept or path to helping one achieve Godís plan for each of us is to live by Truth.  Truth?  What ultimately is Truth?  Truth is in fact an energy which lives within each of us and in fact we each have our own truth and one must seek to live by that truth.  The interesting thing here is humans are quite pliable when it comes to living by truth we are very susceptible to having truth either buried or suppressed by others in this world who want to manipulate our minds and souls.  Interestingly this can be accomplished easier from an evil perspective than from a good perspective.  But if one allows themselves to be guided by Truth, then even in the face of evil, Godís plan for each of us can be achieved.  I placed the verse from 1 John at the beginning for the plain and simple reason that it basically sums up God and Godís relationship with us.  It is not complex, it is not that we need to seek perfection, or the idea that we need to feel guilty of things we do as we go through life.  It states that we all do sin and God knows it, expects it, accepts it and still loves us for what we are.  Simply stated,  God is Light and in God there is no darkness, if we accept that, we live according to Godís purpose and that is to know there is a God and to put others before ourselves.  (back to Spiritual Conversations)
